When it comes to lip gloss, lip balm, or lipstick, I am obsessed. More obsessed with lip balm than anything. Lipstick still scares me because I always think it is all over my face, like when I used to apply it at the age of five. Nightmares. Lip gloss is fun, but sticky and messy. However, when it comes to anything being applied to my lips, besides a kiss 😉 I am a huge lip balm girl and love trying new brands. I have decided to review my top three lip balms that l keep a steady inventory stashed in my closet and I want you try too!

Now for a couple of years, like actually I almost think 10 years… a long ass time, I was having an allergic reaction toJane Iredale Lip Drink lip balms… Sad Face. My go to for the longest time was Burts Bees and those cheap Chapsticks, but I started noticing little pimples that were forming right on my lip line or around my mouth. They would be these little pimples impossible to pop and definitely not attractive to look at. For a while I had no idea what caused it, and my esthetician suggested using a different lip balm after hearing about the same thing from a client. She recommended Lip Drink by Jane Iredale and I have been hooked ever since. What I didn’t know is that a lot of lip balms have petroleum jelly in their ingredients, actually majority of them are solely petroleum jelly. What was happening was that the petroleum was clogging my little tiny pores, causing pimples. GROSS!  Lip Drink comes in different shades and tints, but I always stick to the sheer. The sheer makes sure I don’t over use the lip balm because it has a white hue to it, which can look insane if you overuse.  Plus this shit is expensive. We are talking like $15 for a little tube! BUT it does have an SPF 15 in it which is amazing for the summertime or ANYTIME! Side note: When using Lip Drink your lips will start to become addicted to it. Seriously. You will find yourself walking through the middle of the mall freaking out because you need it. Maybe it is just me, but I have had a couple of my friends say the same thing. So once you start using this, you will be hooked for good. Start saving your money!

Phat Lip Dat Purp Lip BalmMy second go to lip balm was a gift that a friend gave to me as part of my birthday gift. She loves all of their products and because she knows how obsessed I am will lip balm and the flavor grape it was the perfect idea. Phat Lip by Rad Soap is another addiction of mine, mainly because of the flavor and how light it feels on my lips. My friend stumbled upon this company at the Troy Farmers Market and became instantly obsessed with their soap… another amazing product. All of their stuff is super natural and they just are an awesome company in general. I went one time after she got me this and saw their booth and their other products. Very cool! They have several different flavors on their website along with other items for sale as well, if you can’t make it to the market. Be sure to check them out and check out their Phat Lip.

Recently over the holidays, I stumbled back into Bath and Body Works in search of a couple small, cute last minute C.O Bigelow Lemon Lip Balmgifts. Now, I haven’t been in that store for ages, mainly because I remembered reading something about the ingredients in their products were counter active, and actually not that great for your skin. But, I was in a rush and needed something quick. My sales lady was amazing! Walking around with me, helping me throw stuff in my bag, gift wrapping everything, making suggestions. It was wonderful! A+ to Bath & Body Works in Crossgates for top notch customer service! I needed one last item or something to clear a certain amount to get the discount. I, of course, went over to the lip balms and picked up one that looked promising. C.O. Bigelow Lemon Lip Balm can always be found in the top drawer of my desk at work. It is a staple piece that I am so happy I purchased.  It is so smooth on my lips and the taste is wonderful. While I am not as obsessed with this one as I am with my Jane Iredale, this balm gets the job done and is not as expensive as the Lip Drink.  A good substitute.

I will always continue to try new lip balms, because why not!?! So if you have a lip balm that you would highly recommend, send it my way. When it comes to picking and choosing the winners in my lip balm category, ingredients are key in the determining factor. While color, taste and tube design are important, I try to keep it as natural as possible. I mean this stuff is on your lips, which essentially travels into your body and on to the next set of lips LOL. Kiss kiss xo
